PET/CT Scans Available Mount Carmel Hospital
Patients in the Colville and Chewelah area needing advanced radiology imaging for diagnosis or treatment need not travel out of the area to receive Positron Emission Tomography (PET) or computed tomography (CT) scans. A mobile unit is available every other Monday at Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville that offers PET/CT Scans.
PET/CT is an emerging technology that uses a combination of radioactive isotopes (similar to a Nuclear Medicine study) and CT to identify areas of pathology and at the same time, localize those areas within a CT scan.
These studies are primarily used to diagnose, localize and stage various cancers. They can also help to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and some cardiac conditions.
